So here it starts…
This is the first Episode of “tentaclepr0n” (well the name might still change
), a new podcast coming to you and your audio devices from the INTERNET. If you wonder why all those podcasts come from the internet and why not from somewhere else that question will not be answered, but
- if you want to know what this podcast is all about
- if you want to hear what kinds of topics I have planned
- if you want to hear my thick German accent
- if you just want to hear someone say the word “tentaclepr0n” in public
these 20 minutes will be right up your alley!
I introduce myself, sketch briefly what the podcast is gonna be about and what it’s not gonna be. Yeah it’s very meta, I know. Next episode will be better, I promise
Oh yeah, sound quality ain’t perfect, I am still trying to figure things out here so don’t be too mad. The feed can be subscribed to at http://feeds.feedburner.com/Tentaclepr0n .
Thanks,
tante

Nice one
As a German I must say, the accent is okay. xD
Hm… I hope this is a first-episode-only-thing, but: please stop saying things about how your voice is not nice enough and these “I have to make myself look bad so no one can critisize me.”
I definitely will stay tuned and look forward to all the little things you will help shed some light on.
Hey, nice first episode! Your style of podcasting might actually fit my taste because IMO your voice is really pleasant to listen too
.
Regarding the audio quality. Don’t impose too much pressure on yourself. I think the audio quality is pretty good, the only thing which could be improved is the type of mike you’re using (I guess you’re using some kind of headset here) – or the way how you use it to get rid of the crackling noises. If I’d would have to make a suggestion: if you plan on doing actual live not-over-the-net interviews too, then get yourself a handheld recorder that also can be used as an audio interface when plugged into a computer.
Oh, and if you need help on the music part just let me know
.
@chi: Any suggestions for hardware like that?
Well the cheapest one I can recommend (in that I would buy it myself if I could right now
) is the Zoom H2. http://www.thomann.de/de/zoom_h2.htm – but it really depends on how serious you are about the whole thing. The Zoom H2 is in a price range you don’t spend just for fun
.
Ich mag Deine Art zu erzählen und Episode 1 werde ich mir auch noch anhören und bin gespannt, wie es weiter geht.
Your accent is not very thick at all. What strikes me is how you enunciate words painfully thoroughly, which is a bit artificial, but other than that.
Anyway, good luck with this gig!
The first seven minutes sound very promising. Nice-sounding voice, not to fast talking, your accent is not that bad
Some people told that Zoom devices are not built on very good quality. You can hear handling noices on your recordings and so on. How about a look at the Olympus L10?
(tech|tag)riot? i didn’t get it. Could you make a linklist? kthxbye
It’s Tankriot.
ah great, thanks
Hey, not bad, but I don’t think the audio is neccessary.
One would get your points much quicker by reading, and it would be far easier to understand
Sorry, but the accent, or rather the lack of fluency/speed and the ‘pops’ (sound of air) just make it not too enjoyable, imho.
@John G.
Thanks for the feedback. I don’t want the episodes to be just me talking that could probably achieved easier in writing, I agree. The plan is to have guests to talk to about the topics (and that kind of dynamic doesn’t usually translate all that well into written words.
Also having it as an audio thingy allows people to consume it in other contexts (for example on their MP3 player on their way to work where they might not have an Internet connection [or the will] to read blogs/websites).
If People are worrying about the intonation and metre of your voice and not the contents of what your actually saying… they should really get a grip.
Your accent is fine and it is perfectly intelligible! Nice job. Look forward to more.
